Margin beta support
For a beta issue or privacy question, open TestFlight, select Margin and choose Send Beta Feedback. This reaches the developer through Apple's testing service.
What to include
Describe what happened and what you expected, the device and operating-system version, and Margin's version/build from TestFlight. Use fictional examples. Do not include private lectures, audio, slides, account credentials or authorization tokens.
Try Margin without an account
On Mac, choose Explore sample lecture in the sidebar. Explore its notes, transcript, speaker filtering and Speed read. In GPT review, Show sample review displays illustrative offline findings without sending anything to ChatGPT. On iPhone, choose Explore sample notes in the empty library or Library options. Switch between Notes and Transcript; try search, timestamps, Contents, reading size and Speed read. Leave sample returns to your downloaded library.
Mac setup
Margin requires an Apple silicon Mac running macOS 26 or later. Recording and manual notes work before models finish downloading. Open Set up models or Lecture settings โ Local models & downloads to download transcription models (about 1.58 GB) and optional AI notes (about 6.98 GB). Downloads can pause and resume; processed models run locally. Local AI notes require at least 16 GB of memory. No separate Python installation, Homebrew, API key or inference server is needed.
Read your own lectures on iPhone
The iPhone reader requires iOS 18 or later. On Mac, process a lecture, then enable Lecture settings โ Read on iPhone โ Enable iCloud sync. On iPhone, choose Connect to iCloud using the same Apple Account. Pull down to refresh. Samples are excluded from publishing. Saved transcript text, timestamps and speaker labels sync alongside notes, including speech outside the note filter. Audio, slide files, voice profiles, private questions and ChatGPT credentials stay on Mac.
Keep your library safe
Export a complete library backup before changing storage. Do not uninstall the Mac app as a troubleshooting step. Pausing iCloud sync retains downloaded iPhone notes and transcripts. For network errors, retry Sync now when online; check the Apple Account and available iCloud storage. See the privacy policy for retention and removal.
